Bench Plane (Must Have)

Do not rush out and buy new planes. It is Ernie's feeling that classic planes (found at any flea market) work better and are a better value than new planes. New planes generally require more tuning than a classic. We have reconditioned classics available in our store. They are guaranteed by Ernie to work to perfection and are generally less expensive than new planes.

It is important to bring at least one of the metal planes listed above. Do not bring #6, #7 or #8 planes, as these will be of no used during the practical exercise portion of the class. If in doubt about a plane please call or email and we will help you sort things out. We have many classic ("previously owned") planes available in our store and would be glad to set one aside for you. If buying a new plane we have found Lie-Nielsen, Clifton and Veritas planes to be of good quality.
